EXCEPTION

ALL AMPS WILL BE OPEN FOR APPLICATIONS FROM FAMILIES DISPLACED DUE TO NATURAL DISASTER OR REFERRED BY STRIVE 2 THRIVE EVEN IF THE WAITING LIST IS CLOSED.

Interested families may apply by completing and submitting a pre-application form to the Asset Management Property (AMP)  of their choice.  The pre-application form for the AMP of your choice may be downloaded by clicking on the following links :

The forms can also be obtained by contacting the appropriate AMP.  The AMPs and their contact information are available by clicking on the Contact Us tab located on the left of this page.  A listing of the developments serviced by each AMP is available by clicking on the Our Developments tab on the left of this page.

Once the AMP of your choice receives the completed pre-application form (you may apply to more than one AMP, but you will need to contact each one separately), the AMP will enter your information into the waiting list database.  Your place on the waiting list will be initially established based on the information you provide on the pre-application form.  You are requested to update this information if you move, change jobs, or add or delete family members.  If you are currently a resident of any AMP listed above, you may not apply at another AMP.

Depending on application volume, you may be asked right away to complete the application, or, when the AMP estimates that an apartment will be available for you within approximately 30 days. At this appointment, you will be expected to provide documentation such as picture identification, social security  cards and birth certificates.  You will also need to provide proof of income such as recent paycheck stubs, letters from agencies providing financial support such as the Social Security Administration, and other documentation necessary to confirm income and family composition.  At this time, you will sign an authorization for release of information that will allow the AMP to conduct checks to verify your income, to obtain a criminal background check, and to obtain a credit check.  Previous landlords will also be contacted for reference information if appropriate.  To be determined eligible, applicants must:

  • Have a satisfactory record of meeting past financial obligations, especially in the payment of rent.
  • Not have income that exceeds 80% of the median income limit established by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
  • Have no record of disturbing neighbors, destruction of property , unsafe living habits, and no history of criminal activity, which if continued, could affect the health, safety, or welfare of other residents.
  • Not currently be a resident of public housing operated by the Albany Housing Authority.

If everything checks out, you will be offered an apartment once your name reaches the top of the list and an appropriate apartment becomes available.  You will be given three days to sign the lease and make deposits for the apartment offered.  If you are unable to do so, or you decline to accept the apartment offered, you are removed from the waiting list for that specific development, and the apartment will be offered to the next eligible family on the waiting list.
